Located in the heart of Raleigh, the North Carolina Museum of Art offers an incredible variety of backdrops all in one location. From modern architecture and clean lines to open fields, greenery, and beautiful natural light, it allows us to create a senior portrait gallery that feels diverse, personal, and completely unique to you.
And honestly? That variety is exactly what makes a senior session here so much fun.
An Urban Feel + A Natural Feel
One of my favorite things about photographing senior portraits at the NC Museum of Art is that you don’t have to choose between an urban or nature-inspired session.
The museum buildings offer a modern, editorial feel with architectural details, interesting textures, clean lines, and contemporary backdrops. These areas are perfect for seniors who want portraits that feel a little more fashion-forward and polished.
Then, with just a short walk, we can transition into the beautiful outdoor spaces surrounding the museum. The fields and greenery create a softer, more natural look with plenty of room for movement, laughter, and those candid moments that often end up being some of my favorite images.
It’s essentially two completely different senior portrait locations in one.

This gives us the opportunity to create three distinct looks and take advantage of the variety this location offers.

Spring brings fresh greenery, blooming landscapes, and beautiful color to the outdoor areas surrounding the museum. Combined with Raleigh’s gorgeous spring light, it creates a bright, fresh, timeless look.
